Dr. Saunders specializes in economic and financial analysis, valuing privately held companies and economic damages in a wide variety of commercial, corporate, and personal litigation.  His clients include attorneys, commercial and manufacturing companies, banks, insurance companies, investors, U.S. Government agencies, and the U.S. Trustee for whom he has served as Chapter 7 and 11 trustee and examiner.  He has testified as an expert in Federal District Courts, in Massachusetts Superior Court, District Court, Land Court, and Probate Court, and in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court and in arbitrations. 

Types of cases in which Dr. Saunders has provided services include stockholder disputes, business interruption, tortious interference, estate and gift taxation, income taxation, real estate taxation, breach of contract, patent, trademark, and trade dress infringement, bankruptcy, environmental damage, employment, divorce, personal injury, wrongful death, and medical malpractice.  The range of industries in which he has experience is wide, including manufacturing, consumer electronics, IT, medical technology, avionics, wholesale, sales, retail, dealerships, restaurant, real estate, construction, equipment rental, environmental remediation, finance, entertainment, and service.
Prior to founding his own firm in 1988, Dr. Saunders was Director of Financial Industry Consulting for Wolf & Company (a major regional accounting firm).  Services he provided for bank and thrift institutions included preparation of financial plans and analyses, operations reviews, and merger and acquisition consulting.

In addition to his consulting work, Dr. Saunders has extensive business and management experience.  He created and ran a mortgage company for John Hancock Financial Services.  As Senior Vice President of Treasury and Financial Services he was responsible for the company's investment planning, policy, analysis, and asset-liability management, as well as treasury operations and debt issuance and investment systems.  As Chief Economist he supervised and conducted research into the economy, industries, employment, wages, inflation, interest rates, and financial markets.  He participated in the review of proposals for real estate loans and investments and direct placement corporate financings.
Dr. Saunders has been a Research Associate for Charles River Associates (an economic consulting firm), an Instructor at Boston University, and a Security Analyst for the Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company.

He is a past President of the Boston Economics Club and of the Boston Chapter of the National Association of Business Economists; a member of the National Association of Forensic Economists and the Massachusetts Bar Association; and a former Trustee and Chairman of the Valuation Committee of DWS Scudder Funds.

Dr. Saunders has published articles and appeared on professional programs, primarily relating to valuation and to the application of economic principles and analysis to issues in the law.

He was awarded a B.A. in political science from Yale and a Ph.D. in economics from the London School of Economics.
