Philip Saunders, Jr., Ph.D.
specializes in economic and financial analysis and valuation of companies.
He helps clients resolve economic and financial issues which lie at the
heart of litigation and other disputes or which are related to corporate
finance, ownership structure, or turnaround. Prior to founding his own firm, Dr. Saunders was Director of Financial Industry Consulting for Wolf & Company, a major regional accounting firm, serving commercial as well as banking and thrift institution clients. Services he provided included preparation of financial plans and analyses; operational reviews; and merger and acquisition consulting, including due diligence review, preparation of the offering memorandum, and advising on the sale. In addition to his consulting work, Dr. Saunders has extensive business and management experience. He created and ran a mortgage company for John Hancock Financial Services. As Senior Vice President of Treasury and Financial Services he was responsible for the Hancock's investment planning, policy, analysis, performance measurement, and systems, as well as cash flow management, asset-liability management, pension fund investment, treasury operations, and debt issuance. As Chief Economist he supervised and conducted macro and micro economic research, including industry studies and analyses of company operations. He participated in the review of proposals for real estate loans and investments and direct placement corporate financings. Dr. Saunders has been a Research Associate for Charles River Associates (an economic consulting firm), an Instructor at Boston University, and a Security Analyst for the Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company. He is past-President of the Boston Economics Club and the Boston Chapter of the National Association of Business Economists; member of the National Association of Forensic Economists and the Boston Bar and Massachusetts Bar Associations; and Trustee of Scudder Funds. He has served as Chapter 7 and 11 Trustee and Examiner for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. Dr. Saunders has published articles and appeared on professional programs, primarily relating to the application of economic principles and analysis to issues in the law. He was awarded a B.A. in political science from Yale and a Ph.D. in economics from the London School of Economics. |
